Beginning his career as one of the first full-time students studying for a Certificate in Dental Technology, John qualified from Manchester Polytechnic in 1978. 27 years later, John was awarded a Fellowship of the British Institute of Dental and Surgical Technologists for his contribution to dentistry. In 1985, John opened Portland Ceramics, his own lab specialising in implantology and high quality restorations, which was acquired by Boots Dental Care in March 2001. In 2005, John founded Waters Edge Ceramics where he currently employs 17 full-time registered technicians. As well as lecturing for Ivoclar, John has also presented to the Association of Dental Implantology, the British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry and Nobel Biocare World Conference in Las Vegas May 2007.
